With thousands of cruise itineraries sailing to every corner of the globe, how do you know which one is actually worth your time and money? For years, picking a cruise felt like a guessing game. You might read a few reviews, look at some pictures, and hope for the best.
But we wanted a better way. We wanted an objective, data-driven method to evaluate the absolute best sailings in the world.
In my latest video, I am pulling back the curtain on the exact system we use to rate and rank every sailing featured on our channel: Clint’s Cruisability Score (CCS). To make sure we stripped away as much personal bias as possible, I even teamed up with a statistics professor and a computer scientist to build it! So, what actually makes a "perfect" itinerary?
Instead of just looking at the ship or the price tag, our system evaluates every single port of call across ten distinct factors. We analyze the "style" of the destination—is it built for high-energy adventure, deep cultural enrichment, or pure, unadulterated relaxation?
We also judge the core quality of the stop. We factor in everything from natural beauty and city vibrancy to safety, cleanliness, and whether the tourist crowds will negatively impact your experience. We even look at whether a port is better suited for a romantic couple's getaway or a fun-filled family vacation.
But a great cruise is more than just individual stops. We also grade the itinerary as a whole, factoring in the variety of countries or geographical regions visited, the inclusion of unique or exclusive stops, the total duration, and the ship's overall rating to balance out the sea days and the shore days.
How do we balance all of these unique elements so that a 3-day weekend getaway has a fair shot against a 14-day grand voyage? And how do we know what a "perfect 100" looks like?
